Vasisthasana

2. Sanskrit name: vasisthasana

       translation/meaning: most excellent sage, best, rich

3. Side plank pose

4. a) To perform vasisthasana you must first start off by standing in Tadasana. Then after bending forward you will continue to walk your legs back into downward facing dog. Turn your body sideways by rolling your left hip up and pushing um onto your hand, holding yourself up and raising your right arm directly up. Then position your leg so it sits up on top the other. Your body should remain straight with your palm facing away from your body. To complete the pose you may turn your head to gaze up at the raised hand. Before coming into a plank to switch sides hold for 2-5 breaths. After coming to a plank, return back into downward dog then back up into Tadasana.

b) Actions involved in Vasisthasana include Tadasana and downward facing dog.

5. Benefits and effects of vasisthasana include strengthening your abdomen and arms.

6. In this asana I feel strong, it is a more advanced tough but relaxing pose. I feel my body working to hold steady and strong causing me to focus, I feel relaxed.
